Empresses in the Palace (simplified Chinese: 后宫·甄嬛传, lit. The Legend of Zhen Huan) is a 2011 Chinese television series based on the novel of the same name by Liu Lianzi. Directed by Zheng Xiaolong, it star Sun Li and Chen Jianbin. The series started airing in China for the first time on 17 November 2011.
The story tells that during the Yongzheng period of the Qing Dynasty, the heroine Zhen Huan is chosen to enter the palace, and during the battle between the Empress, Consort Hua and others, the story of Zhen Huan grows from a naive girl into a powerful Virgin Queen Mother.
